Today we, the Scottish Government, are launching a public consultation on two proposed joint UK fisheries management plans (FMPs).

The plans are:

  • North Sea nephrops FMP
  • West Coast of Scotland nephrops FMP

The FMPs were developed by three UK fisheries administrations: the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra), the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Northern Ireland (DAERA) and the Scottish Government as the coordinating authority.

The FMPs gather evidence of what we know about the state of these nephrops stocks and the current management approach and set out policies and actions to restore or maintain the stocks at sustainable levels.
