South West in-person consultation events- book now

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: - Defra led FMPs, Public consultation

On 10 February, we launched consultations on the final four Defra-led draft fisheries management plans (FMPs). The consultations are open until 11:59pm on 5 May 2026.

We’re pleased to announce that inperson consultation events for the Celtic Sea and Western Channel pelagic FMP and Celtic Sea and Western Channel demersal FMP are now confirmed.

These events follow our online sessions, where we introduced the proposals for both plans and answered early questions from stakeholders.

The in‑person sessions will give local fishermen, industry organisations, environmental groups and coastal community representatives the opportunity to:

  • discuss the proposals directly with the Defra FMP team
  • share local insight and practical experience
  • ask questions about how the draft plans may affect your area
  • provide feedback that will feed into the formal consultation

Join us at an in-person event

Events will take place across the South and South West, making it easier for local stakeholders to attend and contribute.

Full dates, times and venue details for the demersal and pelagic sessions are now available on our FMP Events page:

We encourage anyone with an interest in the future management of these fisheries to join us. Your input is vital to help shape plans that reflect local knowledge, protect fish stocks, and support sustainable, thriving coastal communities.

* We’re asking people to sign up in advance so we can share important details beforehand, which will help attendees prepare. Look at more FAQs about the events here, including how to get support for making a booking.

More in-person events coming soon

We’ll be announcing dates and locations for the joint seabream FMP and wrasses complex FMP events soon. Subscribe to the FMP blog to hear about these first.

We look forward to seeing you at one of the events!
